ABOUT US

DNA

Our country focuses on technological and ecological growth. Therefore, our citizens value academic excellence and global prestige. Only what is of merit can fit in our busy schedule. Heavily automated processes make us use our time efficiently. A young population has the best chance at advancing rapidly and fulfilling a useful role. All who are no longer contributing to the country’s wealth cannot profit from it any longer. Everything that can be done better, will be done better.

Vision

We envision a future where Meritoria is recognised globally as a centre of intellectual and technological excellence. A nation where science and knowledge shape an efficient and sustainable society.

Mission

Our mission is to place education at the core of national progress. We invest in schools, universities, and vocational programs to equip every generation with the knowledge and skills to thrive. Teachers receive training, classrooms are modernized, and digital tools expanded to ensure equal access.

Education strengthens healthcare, powers the economy, and deepens democracy by nurturing informed citizens. At the same time, we protect the environment, promote cultural heritage, and build sustainable infrastructure, actions that both reinforce and are reinforced by an educated society.

ABOUT US

OUR HISTORY

Long ago, before the name Meritoria was spoken, the land by the cold sea was called Talmaris, “the Plain of Trials.” Its people believed that the gods valued strength, wit, and service to the community above all else. Legends tell of the First Assembly, established by Queen Aelindra the Wise, where rulers were chosen not by blood or wealth, but by who could solve the riddles of the sages and endure the ordeals of winter. This belief, that only the capable were worthy, became the ancient seed of what Meritoria would one day become.

For centuries, Talmaris thrived as a modest coastal realm. Its temperate climate and fertile plains fed the people, while the winters, unsoftened by the Gulf Stream, taught endurance. Yet as the centuries passed, these traditions weakened. Foreign ideas of rule by the crowd, called Demokratia, replaced the old merit trials. At first, this seemed a blessing, but slowly the people grew divided, debts mounted, and the weak were carried at great cost by the strong.

Then came the time of The Great Sicknesses, waves of plague that struck again and again. The old and frail consumed all resources, and younger generations were left hopeless. Out of the chaos arose a brotherhood of scholars and healers, led by Archon Eryndor of the Silver Hand, High Economist Seraphon Kael, and Matron Lyssandra Veyl. Calling themselves the Council of Meritarchs, they claimed that the ancient gods of Talmaris demanded a return to the old ways: that worth must be proven, and life prolonged only if it served the people. With public faith in Demokratia lost, the Council was welcomed as saviors.

Under their rule, the weak and the elderly beyond seventy winters were “returned to the earth” through mercy rites, said to please the ancestors. The population grew young, vibrant, and unburdened. Retirement homes vanished, replaced by academies and laboratories.

Thus was born Meritoria, land of merit. Its riches came from learning and invention. Under Chancellor Dorian Valecourt, machines replaced toil and knowledge replaced tradition, while explorers like Kaelen Marris expanded the nation’s influence abroad. The Council ensured that only proven excellence guided the nation. In society, people grew reserved, speaking little unless they could offer wisdom; festivals gave way to conferences, and temples to monuments of science. Thinkers such as Scholar-Poet Alenya Dravos redefined culture itself, arguing that achievement was the highest form of art.

Though Meritoria was not the greenest of lands, its people saw themselves as stewards of knowledge, sharing their discoveries even when others found them meddlesome. In the modern age, Director-General Maeron Teyl codified the technocratic system that still governs the land, while ecological reformers such as Eira Solthane carried Meritoria’s expertise abroad, strengthening both its prestige and its reputation for interference.

Travelers came not for leisure but to walk in the Oldest Library in the World, to learn, to exchange, to test their worth.

So the trials of Talmaris became the triumph of Meritoria: a nation where youth, knowledge, and merit are not just values, but the sacred destiny carved by history itself.

OUR

SERVICES

The Global Knowledge Exchange Service (GKES) enables our country to share its expertise with the world by lending skilled professionals to partner nations, governments, and organizations. Through this program, scientists, educators, engineers, and policy advisors are temporarily deployed abroad to provide guidance, deliver training, and support development projects.

The service strengthens international collaboration by turning knowledge into a shared resource. Each expert helps build local capacity, improving education systems, advancing technology, enhancing governance, or addressing social and environmental challenges. In return, they bring back new insights, perspectives, and innovations that enrich our own institutions and society.

By connecting expertise across borders, the Global Knowledge Exchange Service promotes sustainable growth, mutual understanding, and global solidarity. It embodies a simple belief: sharing knowledge strengthens nations.
